CARDAMOM

The dried ripe fruits of cardamom have been used as a spice and in medicines since the 4th century BC. It was first imported into Europe around 1300 BC whereby herbalists used cardamom as a digestive aid. In Ayurvedic medicine cardamom is used for its detoxifying effect helping the liver remove toxins from the body.

CINNAMON

Regarded as a gift fit for kings, cinnamon has been used as a medicinal ingredient throughout history. In medieval times doctors used cinnamon to treat conditions such as coughing, arthritis and sore throats.

FENNEL

Ancient Greeks and Romans used fennel for strength, courage, and longevity. In Medieval times, fennel was hung over doors on Midsummer’s Eve to ward off evil spirits and prevent witchcraft.

HOLY BASIL

A legendary herb, known throughout the ages as “The Elixir of Life” and “Mother Medicine of Nature.” Yogis and spiritual seekers have used this herb for its distinct effects on the nervous system and its ability to restore and balance the subtle electromagnetic fields generated by the mind and body that is an important factor in human health.

LAVENDER

Lavender’s history goes back to around 600 BC where it was cultivated and grown in France, Spain and Italy. It became popular during the Middle Ages to ward off the plague due to its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also useful for treating anxiety, insomnia, depression, and restlessness.

LEMON BALM

Regarded as a “calming” herb and traditionally used to combat anxiety, stress and insomnia, to treat wounds, ease indigestion and to stimulate the appetite. Lemon Balm tea has enjoyed a long reputation as a rejuvenating tonic. King Charles V of France (1364-1380) reputedly sipped on lemon balm tea daily to ensure good health and longevity.

Fun fact

Hundreds of thousands of Holy Basil plants have been planted around the Taj Mahal in Agra to help protect the iconic marble building from environmental pollution damage.
