Mama Buci

Mama Buci is a social enterprise that produces award-winning, ethical, and socially responsible pure honey made by wild African bees from the Zambian Miombo forests.

We are the largest single source honey producer in Africa. Our honey is of the highest quality and has won two Gold Stars in the Great Taste Awards for both SKU’s - winter and summer harvest.

Our high-profile ambassadors and shareholders, Bear Grylls and Charlie Mackesy (The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse) are helping us to spread the word and our story has been featured on the BBC news and most recently in the Financial Times 

Mama Buci has a unique business model focusing on happy bees, healthy hives and quality pure honey. Our profits are reinvested back into the local communities.

Currently, we build over 150 beehives a day in our local Zambian workshop. We have provided over 110,000 beehives to the local community.

Our unique, hand-built hives are fully sustainable and crafted locally. They preserve the trees and provide a permanent hive for future communities to benefit from. Beekeepers within the Mama Buci honey scheme have seen their average wage increase significantly. We currently support over 7,000 families in Zambia by providing them with the hives, training and education needed to produce delicious pure honey.
