INGREDIENT PROFILE
ANISEED
The oldest cultivated spice recorded as early as the sixth century as an important herbal remedy. Hippocrates used aniseed to relieve anxiety and digestive disorders. It was so popular in the 1300’s that King Edward imposed an import tax on it!
CHAMOMILE FLOWER
Used in herbal remedies for thousands of years in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Its popularity grew in the Middle Ages as a remedy for asthma, nausea colic, fevers, inflammations, anxiety skin diseases and cancer.
GINKGO BILOBA
Believed to date back to over 150 million years old with some trees currently over 2,500 years old! First used for medicinal properties in Ancient China for its cognitive benefits such as reducing anxiety, depression and psychiatric disorders including dementia. It is also believed to support vision and general eye health.
HOLY BASIL
A legendary herb, known throughout the ages as “The Elixir of Life” and “Mother Medicine of Nature.” Yogis and spiritual seekers have used this herb for its distinct effects on the nervous system and its ability to restore and balance the subtle electromagnetic fields generated by the mind and body that is an important factor in human health.
LEMON BALM
Regarded as a “calming” herb and traditionally used to combat anxiety, stress and insomnia, to treat wounds, ease indigestion and to stimulate the appetite. Lemon Balm tea has enjoyed a long reputation as a rejuvenating tonic. King Charles V of France (1364-1380) reputedly sipped on lemon balm tea daily to ensure good health and longevity.
PASSION FLOWER
First discovered in the 17th century by Spanish Jesuits in Peru and named because it resembled the crucifixion of Christ! Peruvians traditionally used the flower as a sedative and today it is used to help alleviate anxiety.
CAUTIONS & CONSIDERATIONS
Lemon balm may have negative interactions with sleeping pills and other calming medications.
Chamomile has some blood thinning effects, therefore check with your doctor if you take medications such as Cyclosporine or Warfarin. If you are allergic to flowers or weeds (e.g. daisies, chrysanthemums, ragweed) you may be allergic to chamomile.
Drinking Passion flower in tea during pregnancy should be discussed with your doctor as in some women it may cause uterine contractions.
Aniseed can reduce the efficacy of some medications including birth control pill.

Known as a 'living fossil', the Ginkgo Biloba is one of the world's oldest living tree species aged around 350 million years old!
